Room 1 Making Playdough

Today we made Playdough in class. It was super fun.
The dough was really sticky at first. The more flour we added the less sticky it got. We had to knead the playdough over and over again to get the right texture.
Here are some photos that the students took during playdough making.

Term 3 Week 5 Friday

On Friday we did some printing with potatos and apples. At the same time some of the students in Room 1 created some monsters/creatures/man using craft and wrote about it on the iPads with Explain Everything. In the afternoon while the sun was still out the whole junior syndicate went outside and played. The teachers got the sports equipment and dress up luggage out.

Check out the photos that were taken on Friday.

Train and Ferry Trip to Devonport

Today the junior school walked all the way to the GI train station and caught a train to Britomart. Then we caught the ferry to Devonport to look around the Auckland landscape.
It was many people's first trip on the train and/or the ferry and it was very exciting.
The children (and adults) were very exhausted at the end of the day.
Here are some photos from our trip.

End of Term 2 Play

After attending the play based learning Professional Development I was eager to test out the idea in my class. Have a look at what the students in Room 1 got up to during their free play time.

Play

This term I will be focusing on developing a classroom programme where play is incorporated daily. After attending a professional development course on the importance of play I was inspired by the many great benefits that play has on children’s academic, emotional and social development.
I have made an information sheet for everyone about the importance of play.
